Over the past months, I have been fundraising to send signed copies of my memoir, The Lightless Sky, to every Member of Parliament in the UK. Each book is accompanied by a personal letter with recommendations aimed at encouraging a more compassionate and humane approach towards refugees, asylum seekers, and migration.

So far, more than 400 copies have already been sent, and the response from many MPs has been encouraging. However, we still need support to cover the remaining costs of books and postage, which comes to around £10 per MP.

At a time when we continue to see the harmful consequences of dehumanising language towards refugees and asylum seekers, it is more important than ever that our elected representatives engage with real human stories and lived experiences.

This project is about building understanding, encouraging responsible conversations, and helping shape more informed and compassionate policies.
