We are raising funds to help cover the teams' registration fees and room/boarding costs at Michigan State University for the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals. We appreciate your support!
Odyssey of the Mind, is a creative problem-solving program involving students from kindergarten through college. Team members work together at length to solve a predefined long-term problem and present their solution to the problem at a competition.
Our 6th Grade Odyssey of the Mind Team, the Shockingly Smart Squirrels, placed 1st in the Nova East regionals competition and 2nd in the state competition and will represent Virginia in the World Finals competition held in East Lansing, MI. They will be competing against countries from across the world, including China, Poland, Germany, Mexico, and many more.
Coached by Kendra Russell and Jessica Bauserman, team members include Elizabeth E., Genevieve H., Marshall I., Nolan R., Lewis W., Coleman J. and Layla N.. All formerly Glebe Elementary students, these now 6th graders stayed together as an team and represent Swanson Middle, H.B. Woodlawn, and Dorothy Hamm Middle.
All funds raised will go to offset the minimum registration fee of $3,000. Any additional funds raised will be distributed equally to the team members to offset the cost of room and board which is equivalent to an additional $6,400.
