In my 3rd year of raising money for this cause, I've now partnered with Sahel and Sahara Peace and Empowerment. This is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit's mission is the education of African children. All donations made through this fundraise will be routed through this Nonprofit, allowing donors to receive a tax deduction for the charitable contribution.

THE CAUSE:

I put up this campaign because I want to send 50 Ugandan children to boarding school. These children are residents of Mutanda Island, a small island located in Lake Mutanda, Uganda. The island's children age out of education upon completion of the first grade.

I started raising funds to educate the Mutanda Island children in 2022. This month, the children are wrapping up their second school year of education. On January 27, 2025, the children will commence their third year of education. To date, we have raised enough funds to send 15 children to boarding school. We also paid for the Island teacher to offer limited instruction to the children left behind, which is not ideal but is better than nothing.

I am raising funds again to send the Island's 50 children to boarding school. The Sahal and Sahara Peace Empowerment, a non-profit, has agreed to be the fiscal sponsor for this cause. As a result, all donations made to the fundraiser are now charitable tax-deductible contributions under the U.S. Tax Code. Please consider making donations in the names of the people on your Holiday gift list (an acknowledgment will be sent if you provide an email address and name for each donation). I appreciate it when people make donations to charitable causes in my name, so I would not be surprised if the people on your gift list do as well. We have so much in this country that we take for granted. For these children, an education is a dream -- not a reality. The fundraising goal is $23,000, which breaks down into $450 per kid (50 total) + GoFundMe transaction fees so as to not take away from the full need of the donation.
