Send 50 Kids to a Life-Changing Magic Camp

Hi everybody!

My name is John Abrams. I’m a magician. In 2021 my biz partner David Groh (veteran of the military and also a magician) and I decided to create EPIC Magic Camp to build confidence in kids. It’s our mission to empower children with life-changing skills through the art of magic.

Why? David is the father of 5 kids (that in itself deserves a fundraiser!) When his son Benjamin was only 7 years old, he was repeatedly bullied. Kids made him feel stupid and called him names. He would just shut down. Because of this, his grades suffered. His teacher suggested that he be held back. But David and his wife said, “Emphatically No!”.

To add insult to injury, Benjamin was the child of a military father. This meant he moved around a lot and found it hard to be accepted by his classmates.

My oldest daughter, Juna, was also heavily bullied. For her, it was middle school. She got perfect grades, was a little awkward, and loved science. This made her the perfect target. She was made fun of for “getting good grades” and liking school (so bizarre).

This situation is not unique to us. It represents a larger issue affecting all children and their families.

Dave shared his story with me. And I shared mine with him. We had to become partners and create a program that would build character, self-esteem and most of all, confidence. Parents have described the program as “transformational.”

They’ve seen little things, like their kid spontaneously opening doors for people.

They’ve seen big things, like a kid who would never order on his own at a restaurant, actually making eye contact with the waitstaff, and politely asking for what they want – for the very first time.

Families laugh and connect in new ways because they’ve come together to watch their kid’s magic show.

Our dream is to raise 20,000 dollars for the summer of 2023 to send 50 kids to a magic camp that otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford it. It’s normally 495 dollars per child, 6 hours a day, for an entire week (it’s California). But scholarship kids will be able to attend for 395.00 (I happen to know the owners). 100% of the funds raised will be used to scholarship kids into the program.

I’ll be contacting all scholarship kids and their parents by March 15th so they can make plans for the summer.

If you’re a donor and you’d like to see a copy of the camp video that we do every camp week, please contact me or Dave. There's a contact page on our website. We’ll be happy to send it to you.

Thank you so much for your support, we couldn't do this without you.

We are #EpicMagicCamp. Together, we will make a positive impact on the lives of the children.
