Hi everyone,
My name is Jacob. I’m a 14-year-old who, not too long ago, discovered an exciting sport called ice cross. Ice cross is a fast-paced race where athletes wear protective motocross or ice hockey gear and skate downhill on an ice track.
Last year, I was lucky to attend two races thanks to the generous donations I received and some careful planning (thank you again to everyone who supported me). The first race was in Austria, where I volunteered by taking skate guards down the track for other athletes. The second was in Maine, in the US, where I was able to compete in both the junior and men’s categories. Both events were amazing experiences, and I’d love the chance to do them again.
One of the biggest challenges I face is the cost. My parents are helping as much as they can, and I’m saving every bit of money I receive, but I’m too young to work and ice cross is an expensive sport. It’s not something you can train or compete in anywhere—you have to travel to where the ice is.
That’s why I’m asking for a small but deeply appreciated favour: a donation. No matter the size, every contribution helps and means so much to me. Alongside fundraising, I’ll also be taking on small jobs, baking brownies, and completing fundraising challenges, including a half-full marathon on ice and a sponsored climb at my local climbing gym.
I hope that through these efforts, you’ll see the value in supporting my ice cross journey.
Every donation will go directly toward the costs of competing on the world stage, including flights and accommodation, athlete registration and race fees, equipment, uniforms, insurance, and meals while overseas. I will also be donating 10% of everything I raise to a charity called Ward Buddies, which provides bedside support to children in British hospitals when their parents can't be there.
If you’re not able to donate, sharing this page or spreading the word is another great way to help me reach my next goal.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story.
Jacob
