In the remote fly in First Nation of Nibinamik (Summer Beaver) we have a team  of 14 hockey players (The Nibinamik Ducks), of which 5 of the players are young ladies.  The players  ages range between 12-14 years old.  The Nibinamik Ducks started playing at the early ages of 7-8 years old. Some started skating as soon as they walked.  The players love spending time on the ice when the arena is available. The Ducks started going to tournaments last year and their first tournament was a local kids tournament here in Nibinamik 2 yrs ago.  Ever since that tournament, the team has grown  in many ways and they have a real passion for the game.
After the Ontario youth hockey tournament and given the size of the community (approximately 380 people) it is hard to fundraise enough to generate enough to cover their travel and accommodations.  At this time, the community does not have the funds to send the Nibinamik Ducks to one of the biggest Northern Ontario youth hockey tournaments.  We haven't given up yet and the kids continue to try fundraise and we hoped that by creating a Go Fund Me page that perhaps the compassion of others could assist us with giving these youth the opportunity to compete in the tournament and utilize all the skills and hard work they have put in to practices this year.  We need to raise $10, 150 to cover their travel, registration and expenses.  Our hope is that even if you could donate a little, that with many hands...it could make this target light work.  We thank each and all of you for your consideration of helping us make this goal possible for the youth on the Nibinamik Ducks team.  Please share and lets show these kids that hard work and perseverance, coupled with our kindness, really can make dreams come true.  Miigwetch and many thank you's!!!
