Semper Com Humanitarian Fund, Inc

My name is William Knox, and I am raising funds for Semper Commemorata Humanitarian Fund (Semper Com for short) meaning "Always Remembered".

The Semper Commemorata Humanitarian Fund, Inc. was founded on the belief that far too often, after the Parades are over and Taps is but a distant memory, no one remembers those veterans in the Color Guard, or asks who that young lady presenting a Memorial Wreath might be.

We honor those Heroes who have passed on but lose memory of veterans and their families still living, not to mention long lasting scars carried by Gold Star family members.

You might be shocked to know that those Color Guard members consisted of a veteran suffering with PTSD who can’t get help and another member suffering from Cancer caused by his time in the service who the VA has wrongfully rejected for benefits. Another member suffers with painful Fibromyalgia and the effects of Agent Orange. While that young lady presenting the Memorial Wreath, her father was killed in action, but what you can’t fathom are the emotional scars she fights and receives treatment for every day.

I know this story to be truer than you might think, because I am one of those veterans! I am currently under treatment for incurable Leukemia Cancer and end-stage Renal Disease caused by my time in the Marine Corps. And I know every member of that Color Guard including the young lady laying the Memorial Wreath.

At the time of my cancer diagnosis, I was, and still am, a member of the local Marine Corps League and a volunteer at our local VA hospital where I experienced first-hand the anguish and torment other veterans were suffering. I also met other veterans who needed treatment but were turned away. I was determined to do something about it and voice my concerns to any who would listen. I beseeched fellow Marines and the League to be better veteran advocates. To this end, I founded the Semper Commemorata Humanitarian Fund, Inc. to help seriously ill veterans, their families and Gold Star family members with financial assistance in time of overwhelming need.

I ask nothing for myself, … for I have been blessed. All monies raised will go directly to local veterans and their families in need, regardless of branch.
