Hi friends!
This is a really humbling and vulnerable experience for me, so please bear with me as I explain my need.
I am a full time seminary student, working to get her Masters of Divinity at Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, NC. My hope is to do the 107 credit hours program in 3 years. My long term goal is to do college campus ministry, hopefully back in the northeast. I have a huge heart to serve college students and help them through those four years, and I know that God has called me full-time to that ministry.
This year my mother and I left our jobs and moved from our home of 22 years in NY to come to NC so I can attend seminary. Since being here, the Lord has provided a home and part time jobs for my mother and me. I have had the blessing of receiving a 50% scholarship through my school (the highest amount I can receive), and another scholarship through a church to help me pay the full cost of my seminary tuition.
Due to circumstances beyond my control, I will be losing that second scholarship for this upcoming academic year, and need to find the funding to pay for my second year of schooling if I am to remain on track with graduating in 3 years. $10,000 is the total needed for Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring semesters, and I would need about $2000 of it as soon as June 13th.
I currently work 3 part time jobs, am in need of a 400 hour internship for my degree (I have yet to find a paid position, but I am and have been looking), and have not been able to receive financial aid from the churches I have been connected to. This past October we also received the news that my mother has cancer throughout her body, and while at this point the cancer is not life-threatening, we have doctor bills for continual check-ups and multiple surgeries she has undergone. Neither of us has savings set aside, as our jobs combined just cover the cost of living.
I have never asked for money before so this is exceptionally humbling, but I trust that God has put people in my life who love me and want to support me, and that my community of friends and family spreads much larger than a local church here in Charlotte.
Even if you can only give $5, your contribution means the world to me. Right now this financial situation seems insurmountable, but I believe God can provide if He chooses.
