Selina Adda-Dixon - mum, sister, friend, nurse
Don protégé
Hi. I’m Helen, a long time friend of Selina and godmother to her children Brian and Chelsea.
I’ve created this GoFundMe on behalf of her children who have found themselves in the incredibly sad position of losing their beloved mum. They want to fulfil their mums final wish of being buried in Ghana alongside her parents, and also to create a memorial for her in UK. However, due to her passing so quickly and unexpectedly, Selina had made no financial plan or provisions towards paying for her wishes to be carried out…
“Hello family and friends.
As most of you are aware, our wonderful mum, Selina Adda-Dixon, sadly passed away 27th May 2025 on her birthday. Our mum was resilient and hardworking. She did all she could to make sure we had everything we needed in life, and more. In life, we watched her turn a house into a home, and saw her dreams become a reality. So in her death, we want to honour her name by supporting her last wishes.
Our mum came to the UK in 2003, from Ghana, as she saw an opportunity that would be better for not just herself but for her children. She made an everlasting impact on her loved ones and on those around her. There were many times when we saw our mum put others before herself, but she never gave up on her own dreams. She achieved so much, from coming to the UK with very little. She took every course she was able to do at college, when we were young, until she was able to go to university. She graduated not once but twice, finally leading her to achieving her dreams of becoming a Band 6 nurse, where she devoted herself to caring for patients in the NHS, and supporting nursing students.
We are raising money to help cover the costs for a headstone here in the UK, as a remembrance place in memory of our mum, and for a special remembrance event on Saturday 28 June. This will take place from 11.00-3.30 at The Heath: Village Hall and Library, Red Hall Lane, Bracebridge Heath, Lincoln, LN4 2LB. All are welcome and please wear black and red (as is Ghanaian tradition), or just black, to show your respect.
And after that, we want to cover the costs of the repatriation of our beloved mother as we honour one of her last wishes, to be laid to rest with her parents in Ghana. We need to pay for the costs of flying her body there, and dearly hope to be able to go with her too.
Your support will go directly towards all funeral expenses, burial arrangements, and the creation of a lasting memorial in her honour.
Any contribution, no matter the size, is deeply appreciated during this difficult time.
Thank you. Brian and Chelsea”
Please help us reach our target to enable Selina’s wishes to be fulfilled, and for her children to go with her to say their final goodbye.
