Selila Honig’s Final services (Cremation)

Selila was a remarkable person who left a lasting impact on all who knew her. She was my best friend, and I am profoundly grateful that our paths crossed in our knitting community. When she moved to Vermont, we had a “blind” yarn date that blossomed into a deep and meaningful friendship.
Selila spent many years as an art teacher at the Corcoran School of Arts and Design, where she inspired students with her passion for painting, drawing and writing. In recent years, she turned her talents to freelancing, helping colleges maintain accreditation, translating lectures, and tutoring students. Her creativity flourished through her writing and her stitching, with a special love for Tunisian Crochet. Selila’s intricate designs were all her own, and she even wrote beginner-friendly patterns she hoped to share one day.
Her artistic mind was a treasure trove of knowledge, and I will forever cherish the countless hours spent conversing with her about everything from art to life. Selila’s intricate designs had a sharp wit and a delightful sense of humor, which she shared with her knitting group with lively debates and spirited discussions. One of her favorite topics? The eternal question: is banana bread a cake or a bread?
Though Selila did not have a traditional family, she was surrounded by a large circle of friends who loved and cherished her. She was a kind, compassionate, and thoughtful friend who always made sure to listen first and offer advice only when asked. Her friendship was a gift, and I am incredibly thankful to have had her in my life.
During her illness, Selila was deeply touched by the thoughts, prayers, messages, cards, and gifts she received, and she expressed her sincere appreciation. In this difficult time, we are seeking assistance to help cover the costs of her cremation. As many of you know, Selila lived with limited means, and any donation, no matter the size, would make a meaningful difference. Your generosity will be deeply appreciated by all of us who loved her, and it will help honor her memory in a way that reflects the kindness and support she gave so freely to others.
Selila’s legacy will live on in the hearts f all who were fortunate enough to know her. Ashe has left an indelible mark on our lives, and we will continue to carry her spirit with us.
