Consultants are a brave bunch!
Ready to go when a client calls, clients' needs following no foreseable schedule. As a GMP QA consultant, some days I hop into my Honda and zip to the client site. Some days I work from home. In this picture, my husband Danny Ross, the artist, is seen sitting directly in front of my Honda.
In 2010, my new GMP QA consultancy opened, Development QA - Biologics Early Phase GMP, serving biopharmas in clinical manufacture. This year has been my best yet facing clients' important challenges. The biggest benefit of consulting, of course, is working remotely at home so I can care for Danny myself. He has been disabled by Parkinson's Disease since 1998.
When the PD symptoms began, Danny was forced to leave his position as Director of Digital Media at The Food Group on Madison Ave.
Since Danny's disability, our family has been gratefully prosperous based on my work plus Danny's disability benefit of $3600/mo. Challenging us recently, the disability benefit came to an end, because in August, 2016 he turned 65. Retirement savings are now under pressure while we adjust.
We have faith this new emergency fund will be vital: smoothing out income swings, adding savings, and paying bills to let my business grow.
