Last week while one of my best friends, Heather, and her family were sleeping, a Lithium-Ion battery they were charging started a fire in their kitchen. While there wasn't unrepairable fire damage, there was a massive amount of toxic chemical smoke.
For multiple reasons, the family cannot get back into their home for some time, nor can they retrieve their stuff. This means they don't have access to t things, including essentials such as school supplies, work supplies, clothing, toiletries, pantry items or personal things such as Christmas decorations, blankets, or stuffies. The fire restoration rep did say they could clean one week's worth of clothes for the family. As of now, this is what they have with them in their temporary housing.
We are so thankful they were woken up, could use the fire extinguishers, and got out of the house alive. If you feel prompted, please consider giving to this amazing family.
