Wounded Roofer.. Help A Buddy!

Donation protected

On April 12th, 2023, a dear friend Buddy Naill had a terrible accident. While working his roofing job, he took a bad fall. He suffered a compound break of his right tibia, fibula & talus. Buddy had his 1st surgery the next day, the 13th. He had 2 placements of 2 plates, 6 screws & 3 pins, and was sent home in a soft cast. A few weeks later, after he got the staples from surgery removed, he was put in a hard cast. On May 8th, he was sent back to the doctors as his leg was swelling under the cast and an infection had set in. Buddy was put back in a soft cast and had to clean his wounds daily. He saw the doctor every 6 weeks, but there was no improvement in the bones healing. On July 27th, he had a consultation at the University of Maryland. They wanted to do a new treatment plan, remove the hardware and do a soft treatment reconstruction & a tissue transfer from his left leg. August 16th, surgery #2 was performed. They removed the hardware and placed a temporary internal antibacterial rod. August 18th, Surgery #3, debridement of leg, angiogram through groin to check the arteries for flap surgery. August 22nd, Surgery #4, flap (skin, muscles, veins & arteries) taken from left thigh & applied to the right ankle where the infection ate away.

After 3 weeks in shock trauma Buddy was sent home on August 29th in a wheelchair unable to lower his right leg, which had to remain above his hip at all times. During his 1st week home while trying to recover from all the surgeries, he began to run a 102 fever and developed an infection in his left donor leg. Back to hospital on September 6th. Surgery #5, signs of sepsis have set in his infected donor leg. They had to cut out all infected muscle tissue and had to leave the wound open to drain out the infection. Buddy has been in ICU as of now with a wound vacuum on his left leg. Once his blood pressure and fever all get back to normal, he will endure 2 more surgeries in the next 2 weeks before he can go home. In 4 months from now he will hopefully have his last surgery to remove the antibacterial rod and replace it with a titanium rod.

Buddy is self-employed, running his own roofing business, Naill Brother Construction, and has a daughter he loves and supports. Buddy's life savings are gone due to all medical bills, and he probably won't be able to get back to work for at least 9 more months. Buddy is one of the most generous, loving, caring men I have ever known. He would help anyone in need and not ask for anything in return. He is being cared for and supported by his close family, daughter Sydney, girlfriend Amanda, and his bonus daughter Lillie. Right now, he needs more help than they can give him. He hates to ask for help, but I know people in this great community will help this wonderful man out. A little donation will go a long way. Anything will help!
