Selena's Journey to Recovery

My name is Sylvia Ramirez mother to 4 wonderful children. My middle Child recently was shot in the face by a jealous act by a male person who she knew for 3 months. Her daughter, my granddaughter, was with her when she was shot. My daughter was left alone with my granddaughter in my daughter’s apartment with a gunshot wound to her face and my granddaughter screaming as she witnessed this tragic moment. My daughter was transported to a local hospital where she underwent a 5 hour surgery to reconstruct a shattered jaw and place a metal plate in her jaw and remove bullet fragments from her ear as well as reconstruct the inside of her mouth. She also has lost most of her teeth on the right side of her mouth. She suffers from some paralysis and hearing loss on the right side of her face affecting her eye as well. She was working to provide for herself and for my granddaughters needs like rent, food, clothing health insurance and all of the daily necessities needed. This all has come to a halt due to this one tragic act by this one person who has taken from her and my granddaughter and our whole family. My daughter has suffered not only physically but also mentally as has my granddaughter, my son and myself because we found her in her apartment that day. She is in need of financial help now since she cannot work and I have taken time off of work to care for her and my income as well, has diminished into FMLA leave. My daughter was in ICU for 10 days and in the hospital for a total of 12 days. Any financial assistance would be greatly appreciated. I thank God everyday for the Blessings of her being alive but I witness everyday the struggles of her recovery physically mentally and emotionally. On behalf of my daughter and all of us we thank you for any Blessing of help that you can provide for my daughter and granddaughter. We know that the Goal that was set is just a 1/4 of what the medical debt is but we also know that for now that any amount of Blessings would help provide for medical and living expenses. She will need additional surgeries in the future but she is taking it a day at a time. God Bless You
