My name is Selena Nguyen who has been very ill. Almost two years ago, I was diagnosed with end stage renal disease and my kidneys were no longer functioning. After one year and five months, on October 15, 2016, I received the gift of life - a kidney transplant. I am recovering well and grateful that I am getting stronger every day. I am a mother of three, a friend of many, and a loving, caring person.
My family and I are still faced with an uphill battle, however. Transplants are lifesaving, but financially draining. Even with insurance, we are facing very high expenses including hospital copays, travel, and the anti-rejection medications I must take for the rest of my life.
To help offset such expenses, a fundraising campaign in my honor has been established with GofundMe
www.gofundme.com/selenakidneyfund, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for many years. All donations are tax-deductible.
I am grateful to surround myself with so much love and support through the process of my kidney disease. I want to thank my family for taking care of me and finally, I would like to thank those that have and will be supporting me. God bless you! :)
