I would like to introduce you to Selena, a remarkable 20-year-old young woman who has been facing some serious financial difficulties lately. Selena is the primary caretaker and healthcare proxy for her mother, Joann, who suffers from severe diabetes and is now experiencing early-onset dementia at only 47 years old. This has been a difficult journey for Selena, as she has to balance her personal life with the responsibilities of caring for her mother.

Recently, Selena had an unfortunate accident with her beloved dog Sheba, who broke her leg and required surgery, multiple sessions of physical therapy, and medications. This was a significant financial burden for Selena, but she didn't let that bring her down. She continued to take care of Sheba, making sure that she received the best care possible.

Unfortunately, the same weekend that Sheba had her accident, Selena's mother suffered a heart attack. Selena had to put everything aside and rush her mother to the hospital. Her mother had emergency surgery and had stents placed, but due to her weakened state, she had to come back for follow-up surgery. Even with insurance, many of the medications needed for her mother were not covered, and the hospital visit was not entirely covered.

This has been a massive financial strain on Selena, but she has been taking it all in stride. With only the help of her 18-year-old, younger sister, Selena has maintained a positive outlook and has continued to be a dedicated caretaker for her mother and Sheba.
