I never thought I would be writing this, at least not for my brother.
Here is a person who has been through so much in his 49 years of life, most people couldn't have got through it. Not my brother, he has faith in God beyond belief. In his life he has overcome much. He always says, "God takes care of me always". For someone who is 20 years sober, is a widower of 17 years and has raised his 17 year old daughter as a single parent, how does anyone stay positive. He does.
My brother just started a new job the day his results came in. One of the very saddest things is he had gone to the doctor 6 months prior to this and was dismissed with a diagnosis of an overactive bladder. He knew something was really wrong and decided to go the urologist. I have heard this so many times of people being sent away with the wrong diagnosis, when had they just taken a little more time with the patient and taken their concerns a little more serious, some things could be prevented or not as bad. So 6 months later he has been diagnosed with muscle invasive bladder cancer and has to go through 2 months of extensive chemotherapy. A few weeks after his treatments he will have to go in for surgery for a neobladder reconstruction. The doctors have told him he will have 2 to 3 months of recuperation. He will have no income during this time, and as we all know insurance helps but not for everything. I am asking for anything you can give. It can be a prayer or a dollar, they are all so much appreciated, you will never know.
