Our baby girl Selah Grace is a heart warrior with Congenital Heart Disease. She was diagnosed only 2 days prior to her birth which sent us to the other coast for her birth and care. At day 8 she started to decline as her mitral valve was severely leaking causing a backflow of her blood back to her lungs causing Pulmonary Hypertension. She was then intubated to release the stress on her lungs and heart as she was going into heart failure. Her scheduled surgery was then pushed up as her heartrate at rest jumped up to 275 bpm. We walked with our daughter down to the OR and gave her a kiss on day 16 as she underwent open heart surgery in which her mitral valve was replaced with one her surgeon fabricated. We were released just shy of a month from when she was born. She has been in and out of the hospital since then recovering from a respiratory issue that was a result of being intubated as she was struggling to breathe. She had to go down to the OR once again this time to open her airway as she had significant inflammation. These stays have been exhausted us financially due to her hospital being on the opposite coast of the state, repeat visits for follow up appointments, and being required to eat out consistently while here. If you can help us in any way even if by sharing our story and fundraiser we would greatly appreciate it.
