Madison Olivia was born September 27th, 2023 a beautiful and what appeared to be a healthy baby girl to parents Ashlie and Connor Mckeeman. While enjoying and soaking up their new little love, at 5 weeks old they noticed a small abnormal movement, a right eye and right hand twitch that was rhythmic lasting 5-10seconds. After happening 3 more times in a 24 hour period, Madison was brought to her pediatrician where they were then sent to the pediatric emergency room for a neurology work up for pediatric seizures. But what started out as something that seemed so little and so benign (newborns can be twitchy little things!) became much more than that. Madison’s brain ultrasound came back abnormal and an MRI and EEG were ordered. EEG confirmed that she was having seizures and the MRI showed even more. Madison’s MRI came back with fluid filled cysts and a frontal lobe that was underdeveloped that became the hot spot for her seizures, a place that makes seizures very hard to control. With no prior indications and a perfectly normal pregnancy, this adorable new family is now dealing with lots of uncertainty, multiple dr visits with different specialties such as Neurology, Ophthalmology, and PT/OT as well as UCSF (University of California San Francisco) Neurosurgery as they try to manage Maddie’s very difficult seizures as she grows, and unplanned ER visits and hospitalizations. Currently, Maddie is home being closely monitored by her parents, always in touch with her neurologists, and doing their best to control her seizures although have proven their difficulty already at such a young age.
Any and all donations will go directly towards Maddie's medical care and are greatly appreciated during this new families difficult time.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
Baby Maddie's family.
