Kenzie's Seizures : Hi, my name is Eric Broadworth and I'm raising money for a seizure dog for Kenzie.
Kenzie is an intelligent, kind and extremely strong 12 year old. She's been through more in 10 years than most people go through in an entire lifetime and she's one of the strongest people that I know.
Kenzie was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at 2 years old and battled with it until she was 4 1/2 years old. During this time she was treated with high dose interthecal (spinal injections) methotrexate and dexamethasone. Thankfully the cancer is gone and Kenzie is in remission.
However, she has not been able to live a normal life of a child since the side effects of the treatments caused issues with her coordination and physical development. Due to the treatments for her cancer she has had damage to her brain resulting in focal epilepsy as well.
She has already had 2 brain surgeries and is pending 2 more brain surgeries in 2024 to try to decrease the frequency of the seizures which occur about 5 times per day, have caused cognitive decline and physical mobility deficits.
Kenzie would like a seizure dog which can help sense when she is having a seizure and alert others around her to provide necessary assistance. These dogs are extremely expensive and cost $25,000-30,000. Due to the high cost and all of her medical bills, her family is unable to afford the dog.
Kenzie, and her parents Betsie and Mark, are some of the kindest people I know that have been through more than any family should ever have to go through. This seizure dog would help Kenzie with her overall health and safety and mean the world to this family.
If you can help in any way it would be greatly appreciated. All funds are being given directly to Betsie and Mark.
