Leanne is a 5 year old girl that was diagnosed with epilepsy January 30, 2019.  That night, she was found in her bed not breathing due to vomiting during a seizure, thereby rendering her unable to turn over or cough to prevent herself from choking on it. By the grace of God, we found her in time to save her. Since then, she has been in and out of the hospital due to her focal seizures. These seizures have trended towards occurring while she sleeps. Due to the way focal seizures present clinically, the current seizure alarms will not work for Leanne.  So, she’s been co sleeping with us. But unlike most 5 year olds, Leanne wants to sleep in her own room and her own bed.  Our hope is that a professionally trained seizure dog will sleep with her and alert us if a seizure occurs, thereby allowing us to give her some sense of independence and normalcy back.  We have gone through the months long process with a service dog company and they have determined Leanne to be a good fit for one of their dogs. We are hoping to get some help from the community so that Leanne can be a little safer while she sleeps. Thank you for your consideration.
