Sei Teil meines Freiwilligendienstes in Botsuana

Hallo, mein Name ist Zoe,

nach meinem Abitur im Sommer 2025 werde ich mir einen lang gehegten Traum erfüllen: Mit dem weltwärts-Programm und der Entsendeorganisation KulturLife reise ich nach Francistown in Botsuana, um dort ein Jahr lang in einem Bildungsprojekt der Dreamfactory Foundation mitzuarbeiten.

Was werde ich dort tun?

Das Projekt konzentriert sich darauf, Jugendlichen und jungen Erwachsenen im Alter von 15 bis 35 Jahren digitale Fähigkeiten zu vermitteln, um sie auf den lokalen Arbeitsmarkt vorzubereiten. Gemeinsam mit meinem Team werde ich:

• Workshops zu Textverarbeitungsprogrammen, Social-Media-Nutzung und vieles mehr halten

• digitale Inhalte mit den Jugendlichen gestalten

• Beiträge für soziale Medien schreiben und veröffentlichen

• junge Menschen in der Nutzung von Computerprogrammen stärken, damit sie sicherer und selbstbewusster in ihre berufliche Zukunft blicken können

Warum engagiere ich mich?

Mich fasziniert die Möglichkeit, aktiv am kulturellen Austausch teilzunehmen und meine eigenen Fähigkeiten weiterzuentwickeln. Schon seit meiner Kindheit interessiere ich mich für andere Kulturen — unter anderem durch den ehrenamtlichen Einsatz meiner Mutter in einem Flüchtlingsprojekt. Meine bisherigen Auslandserfahrungen, wie ein kurzer Aufenthalt an einer High school in den USA, haben meine Neugier auf die Welt verstärkt. Außerdem engagiere ich mich bereits im Jugendbeirat meines Heimatortes in Laboe und weiß, wie wertvoll es ist, junge Menschen zu stärken und ihnen Chancen aufzuzeigen.

Warum brauche ich deine Unterstützung?

Mein Freiwilligendienst ist ein gefördertes Projekt des weltwärts-Programms. Das Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) übernimmt 75 % der Kosten — die restlichen 25 % müssen durch Spenden aufgebracht werden. KulturLife als gemeinnützige Organisation ist auf diese finanzielle Unterstützung angewiesen, um Freiwillige wie mich und wichtige Partnerprojekte in Ländern des globalen Südens, wie die Dreamfactory Foundation zu fördern.

Mit deiner Unterstützung hilfst du nicht nur mir, meinen Freiwilligendienst zu realisieren, sondern ermöglichst auch die Weiterführung wertvoller Bildungsprojekte vor Ort.

Wichtig zu wissen: Deine Spende geht nicht an mich persönlich, sondern ausschließlich an die gemeinnützige Organisation KulturLife. Damit werden sowohl mein Einsatz als Freiwillige als auch die Partnerschaft mit der Dreamfactory Foundation und ähnliche Projekte unterstützt. Gemeinsam tragen wir dazu bei, Jugendlichen und jungen Erwachsenen in Francistown und auch an anderen Standorten bessere Zukunftschancen zu bieten.

Hello, my name is Zoe,

After I graduate from high school in summer 2025, I will fulfil a long-cherished dream: With the weltwärts programme and the sending organisation KulturLife, I will be travelling to Francistown in Botswana to spend a year working on an educational project with the Dreamfactory Foundation.

What will I be doing there?

The project focuses on teaching teenagers and young adults aged 15 to 35 digital skills to prepare them for the local labour market. Together with my team, I will:

- hold workshops on word processing programmes, social media use and much more

- Design digital content with the young people

- write and publish articles for social media

- empower young people in the use of computer programmes so that they can look to their professional future with more confidence and self-assurance

Why am I getting involved?

I am fascinated by the opportunity to actively participate in cultural exchange and develop my own skills. I have been interested in other cultures since I was a child - partly due to my mother's voluntary work in a refugee project. My previous experiences abroad, such as a short visit at a high school in the USA, have increased my curiosity about the world. I am also already involved in the youth advisory council in my home town in Laboe and know how valuable it is to empower young people and show them opportunities.

Why do I need your support?

My voluntary service is a funded project of the weltwärts programme. The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) covers 75% of the costs - the remaining 25% must be raised through donations. As a non-profit organisation, KulturLife relies on this financial support in order to promote volunteers like me and important partner projects in countries of the global South, such as the Dreamfactory Foundation.
