I, Kesha Lake, am breaking into the tech industry in 2019!
Aside from great job opportunities and wonderful earning potential, the tech industry is proving to be my soul mate (don't tell my husband). You know the feeling. Clammy hands. You feel happy and nervous and inspired and inadquate and so worthy and so unworthy all at the same time. Any of my fellow code newbies have felt all of these and more trying to learn Javascript. There's only one explanation!
I'M IN LOVE GUYS! And coding plans to make a respectable woman out of me!
I want this to be more than a hobby. I want to become a professional coding MACHINE!
I started out asking advice from the few techie friends I have and I got the best advice ever: CHECK OUT CAREER KARMA! There I met my mentors Ruben, Timur, and Artur, who set me up with the best online resources to start learning and helped me grow my network! I completed their 21 DAY CK CHALLENGE and by the end of it, I made more tech friends than I can count and had applied and been conditionally accepted to FOUR bootcamps!
BUT! There was still much work left to be done! Thus! I buried my head in code and worked to complete the technical challenge for my top choice bootcamp!
AND GUESS WHAT?! I PASSED!
I am happy to announce that, as of Wednesday, I received my official acceptance into the FlatIron School Immersive Full Stack Web Development program! I'll be joining the April 22 cohort and I can't wait to continue learning with my instructors, Brit and Safae!
Alrighty! Now to the reason you're here! Coding bootcamps are not free. In fact, even with the scholarships I applied for, I will still need to raise about $14,00 just to cover tuition. In addition to that, I will need to continue to provide for my regular living expenses and pay for reliable child care during the 15 weeks I will be attending the program.
I am of course saving up all of my pennies to make that happen!
However, the very first step to making this happen is to raise $1000 in funds to secure my seat in the program. I need that money no later than Wednesday February 27, 2019!
