Through this film, I am looking to enlighten the public about the abilities of people who are blind like me.
With close to 70% of working-age blind people in the United States being unemployed, I plan to explore the reason for this disparity in my film. I further look to partner with the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown Massachusetts to support the secondary school for the blind in Tunisia which I attended as a child. This initiative, moreover, will involve the purchase of computers equipped with speech and screen enlargement software as well as Braille printers to be setup within the student resources room at this boarding school. In addition, I plan to collaborate with members of the local Lions Clubs International organization in Tunis who will take charge of setting up the equipment in the resource room. And finally, I am looking to film all of these activities in order to incorporate this footage into my documentary film as a way to demonstrate what is possible.
Once produced, my plan is to screen this film at a number of film festivals to include Sundance and SilverDocs. Furthermore, I am also looking to show it during my planned public speaking engagements at educational conferences and other screening venues.
I thank you very much for your support!
