Help Marisol & Naamia with Medical & Living Expenses

My name is Naamia Rivera and my mom is Marisol. We urgently need your help. On July 29, 2024, my mom received a letter that her long-term disability benefits, which were only 60% of her income, already making it difficult to manage our living and medical expenses, would end in just 2 days, by July 31. This was unexpected and devastating news. We both felt sick to our stomachs. We could literally lose everything. My mom was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and had a partial thyroidectomy in January 2023, and since then she has had post-surgery vocal fold paresis which is partial impairment of the vocal cords that affects her voice, breathing, swallowing, and coughing. I remember well when my mom had a vocal cord medialization injection treatment and she could not speak at all while we watched the fireworks last year and her voice did not come back for over a week. We even started learning a bit of ASL to help us communicate with each other. Her vocal fold paresis is now a permanent condition and she needs another surgery. My mom also suffered from extreme back and neck pain, and was diagnosed with spondylosis of her cervical spine C4-C7 and thoracic spine T4-T5 and had to undergo radio-frequency ablation for pain reduction. We have spent the last two days going to food pantries near us to have food to eat. We desperately need help with our living, food, and medical expenses.
