Seeking temporary support following loss of job
Donation protected
Hi Everyone, thank you for reading my story.
I recently lost my job after being forced out of my workplace by bullying. This was completely unexpected and I had had a fixed term contract to end of March 2026, so it has been a huge shock. At the same time I've been dealing with fraud and stalking, linked to the bullying that I've experienced at my former job, and which I reported to the police.
Originally resigning due to stress and whistleblowing detriment, I tried to rescind my resignation within a good timeframe, giving many valid reasons, including the financial destitution I would face, and how my autism affected my original resignation, but this request was rejected by my line managers. This has been another shock and I am feeling extremely hurt. I also found out - two weeks into sick leave - that my employer is only paying me half-pay for sick leave to cover June, which won't cover my outgoings. This is contrary to information I had from them earlier in the year about my pay. This has been another huge shock to process.
I'm currently exploring legal options with Acas but this won't support me in the interim as I look for a new position somewhere else. I live alone without support from a spouse or family to pay my bills. Unfortunately my self-esteem has received a huge knock, along with my mental health, and this is affecting me a lot on a day-to-day basis. I also had to fund legal fees between February 2025 - May 2025 in relation to the bullying and fraud that I experienced at work, which means that I am financially out-of-pocket even more.
To help me over the next few months, as I look for new work, I'm looking for any financial support (however small) you can offer as a helping hand. This would be in the form of donations through GoFundMe.
As an idea of the monthly financial outgoings I currently have, these are:
Mortgage £660
Gas/electric £60-70 (actual, but I pay a £100 monthly direct debit to Octopus)
Council tax £99
Pet and car insurance £60
Personal loan repayment £300
Internet (BT) £32
Phone bill (O2) £26
Water £26
Dentist plan (Denplan) £29
Average total each month: £1,302
This doesn't include any food costs or petrol costs. I also can't afford therapy/coaching costs right now to support me to recover from this experience, as I need to prioritise my mortgage and bills.
I'm doing my best to find new work and generate income. I'm in the process of registering with a temp agency and speaking to former employers. I've also set up a new LinkedIn to reach out to old contacts and networks. I'm also developing a new business plan for my business, as my business is not currently generating income, which was because my focus over the last 12 months had been working at my job in healthcare (the job I have lost).
I'm hoping to raise around £2,000 to offer me some breathing space for another month to find new work, or something part-time that can cover my bills.
I'm hopeful that this is a temporary situation and that I will be able to get back on my feet quickly, and also heal from this experience.
Thank you for reading and for any support that you can offer me during this upsetting and distressing time,
~Candy
