Hi, friends.
As many may know, I am Naiymah Sanchez, (she/her) a passionate transgender woman of color who has contributed to the community movement work since 2008. I am based out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and have collaborated with many community partners throughout the Nation in efforts to reduce the harm experienced by communities marginalized by inequity and disenfranchised from basic human rights and dignity.
I share my history of community work because this time I'm in need.
As someone who prides herself on being out, proud, and resistant, I am aware that I am aging, and as a 40-year-old person, I realized that seeking safety as an aging person becomes critical but necessary while I have the capacity and energy to secure.
I have worked for a non-profit for pretty much my entire Adult "traditional Work history" and have been able to stay afloat with my earned access, but for Buying a house it's not good enough. As a caregiver of my disabled father, I find myself struggling to not just secure housing for me as I age but ensure that I can continue to care for my dad.
As many may know there is a lot of redlining that presents barriers during the process.
I have found "my home" and Im ready to make an offer but I need your help to close the deal.
I am participating in the Philly First Home Buyers program which will grant me up to $10,000 over 15 years which is great but the closing cost for the house accommodating to me and my father's needs is $25,000. I have saved $3,800 that will be used for inspections and a Mortgage loan down payment.
Can I count on you to contribute?
Anything is welcome but this is an emergency as the home I am currently renting is dilapidated and the landlord is unwilling to properly fix it.
Thank you so much for donating.
