As many of you know, my husband Jeff passed away on April 28, 2020, after a battle with an extremely  aggressive cancer. Jeff was a loyal, loving husband and father, and a kind friend and neighbor to all. In the days since his passing, I have heard so many wonderful stories from friends and family members about times Jeff helped them with projects large and small, or simply made their days better by checking up on them. It has been amazing to see his spirit of kindness returned in the form of dinners, cards, and flowers from friends and family who have also felt our loss.

Losing Jeff has been unimaginably difficult, made harder still by the lack of financial security that comes with his death. Jeff knew how hard it would be, and we did everything we could to plan and save when his cancer was labeled “terminal.” Jeff even chose to be cremated, in large part to lessen the financial burden of his death. As we adjust to the “new normal,” our family is trying to figure out how we can make ends meet. Between the costs of settling Jeff’s affairs, the mortgage and bills, and—of course—the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, there is no sugarcoating it: times are tough. 

Some people have asked how they can help, and have suggested setting something up like this. I hate to be in this position, but I am asking my friends and family for any help they can provide. Any amount you can donate will be a tremendous help as we try to navigate life without Jeff, and we will appreciate it more than we could ever express.
