Seeking Support for Everest's Bone Graft

We are raising funds for our beloved Everest!

Everest (she/her) was born with a very rare syndrome, Simpson Golabi Behmel syndrome. Among other unique physical conditions, she was born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate. So far she has had two surgeries to repair her cleft lip and to repair her palate.

On July 1, Everest will have her tenth surgery under the age of 10. This surgery will be a bone graft, coming from her hip, to insert bone in her gum line where her cleft was.

Due to Everest’s various medical conditions, my ability to work has been limited. Doctor appointments, long periods of illnesses, emergency surgeries, and extended periods of healing have all resulted in a sense of instability around finances. With this surgery, her healing time will be 8 weeks. She will not be able to partake in her usual activities such as running, climbing, swimming, or even using stairs. The hardest part of this surgery will be ensuring that Everest receives rest and care, and does not overdo it during the healing period.

We are seeking support to meet our basic needs while I am at home caring for Everest in this healing process. Everest will need to receive alternative medicine to support her recovery, including acupuncture, craniosacral therapy, support from an herbalist, and seeing a medical trauma informed children’s therapist. We are also needing support covering our rent, groceries, and other basic needs during this time.

We received so much support with Everest’s last Go Fund Me for the skull reconstruction surgery back in 2022.
