Hi, my name is Louie Carter. I live with Ulcerative Colitis, a chronic inflammatory bowel disease that I’ve battled for years. After a long struggle, I finally made the difficult decision to undergo surgery in the hope of restarting my life and finally living pain-free.
Throughout this journey, I’ve shared my story on TikTok to spread awareness about this invisible illness, and the support from the community has been incredible. Many of you have been with me every step of the way, and I’m so grateful.
Unfortunately, my surgery did not go as planned. My bowels are currently in complete shutdown and unresponsive, and doctors are already discussing the possibility of another surgery. My recovery has been delayed, and instead of healing, I’m still in hospital and declining.
At home, my partner has been doing everything to keep us afloat, but she’s just been made redundant. We have a mortgage, an 8-month-old baby, and a 4-year-old child to care for. We had planned for me to be in recovery by now, but our situation has turned into a real crisis. With me only receiving sick pay and my partner no longer earning an income, we are struggling to cope with the financial pressure on top of everything else.
I don’t like to ask for help, but right now we are desperate. Any donation—no matter how small—would take some of the pressure off us at home, so I can focus on fighting to get better for my family.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading my story, for supporting us, and for helping me on this very difficult road to recovery.
