Hello! Most of you know me from work, school, or even church, but I am currently the new face of homelessness. Yes, I'm homeless. I work every day, but don't have a home to go to after work. I lost my apartment on 02/04/2025 because I could no longer afford the cost.
If you know me, then you know that I used to take care of my uncle Eddie, who passed on 02/11/2024. Without his income, it's been a struggle to keep up with housing, bills, and just life.
I was going to rent court every month after his passing, and finally, everything came to a head on 02/04/2025. My son and I packed up everything and left our apartment for fear of eviction.
After a friend paid for us to stay in a hotel for 10 days, we paid for 7 days at a hotel, but after that, our money dried up. It just costs too much to rent hotels at the prices they charge on a longer-term basis. So, my son went to stay with his father and stepmother. I, on the other hand, have been living out of my car, and some nights another friend allows me to sleep on her sofa.
Recently, I was approved for a much cheaper apartment in a not-so-safe neighborhood, but I still have to come up with $2400.00 to move in. I have tried all of my resources, and this is my last resort.
Even though I don't have a home, I still have costs, such as car payment, gas, phone, food, laundry, and storage unit fees, etc.
I understand times are hard for everyone, but if you have anything, please feel free to give towards me getting a new home.
Thank you.
