Hello! I’m Violet. Growing up in Texas as a closeted trans woman has been a back-and-forth struggle. Luckily I was blessed to have a supportive family, but my existence is under fire by the state and federal government. I have plans to move to the United Kingdom to live with my partner, though I severely lack the funds to help myself financially. From getting a visa, the healthcare surcharge, much needed living expenses, and the minimal amount needed for that visa — the amount unfortunately stacks up. Currently I have been looking for work for a year and a half now with no luck. Though that hasn’t stopped me yet. But with the anti-LGBTQIA+ bills being proposed, anti-LGBTQIA+ laws being passed, and gender affirming care being restricted I am terrified to stay put.
