Hi, my name is Tomicita Rose Woodie. I am born for Tótsohníí (Bigwater) clan. My father’s clan is of the Tábąąhá (Water’s Edge) clan. I come from Steamboat, Arizona.
I am reaching out during a very difficult and important time in my life as I prepare to move forward with a legal grievance case against the Navajo Nation Department of Justice. This case stems from a layoff notice I received on November 12, 2025, which became effective on November 28, 2025. I firmly believe this action was not a legitimate layoff, but instead a pretext for retaliation tied to my professional role, responsibilities, and the work I was doing.
I am now scheduled for a Pre-Trial Conference Hearing on April 29, 2026, through the Office of Hearings and Appeals in Window Rock, Arizona. This is a critical step in seeking justice and accountability under Navajo Nation law, including the Navajo Preference in Employment Act and due process protections that are meant to protect employees like myself.
I have dedicated my career to Human Resources, policy, and organizational integrity. I understand the importance of fairness, transparency, and following proper procedures. What happened to me did not reflect those values.
While I am prepared to stand and speak for myself, I know the importance of having strong legal representation, especially when going up against the NN Department of Justice. I am seeking support to help cover the cost of hiring an attorney who can help me properly present my case and ensure that my rights are fully protected.
This is not just about me. This is about standing up for fairness, accountability, and doing what is right, even when it is difficult.
Any support you can give, whether through a donation or simply sharing this, truly means a lot to me. Thank you for taking the time to read my request and my plea.
