Seeking Help For Overseas Medical Treatment

Donation protected
A young lady's life is at a standstill due to a known illness called rheumatic heart disease. Josephine Gibba, a 25-year-old woman, was diagnosed with this condition in April 2018. Her knowledge of the disease and the fact that it cannot be treated in the Gambia worsened the diagnosis and affected her mental health, as the constant thought of her predicament depresses her.
She presented with pedal edema, weight loss and palpitations. On examination, she had grade 3 pedal edema, a palpable liver and pansystolic murmur (grade III).
She's currently on enalapril 2.5mg, bisoprolol 2.5mg, furosemide 10mg and penicillin V 500mg bd.
With all the efforts of her healthcare team seemingly futile, the Medical Research Council- Gambia recommended she seek overseas treatment since the condition cannot be treated locally in the Gambia. Upon further consultation with Josephine’s healthcare providers, the Metro Heart Institute With Multispeciality, Faridabad, India, is recommended for her treatment. DocTrip India will facilitate the treatment plan together with travel and other miscellaneous expenses at a total estimated cost of U.S.$12,588.00.
Given that Josephine comes from a financially underprivileged family, it is almost impossible to afford this cost. That is why this fundraiser is set up to help with her medical expenses. Therefore, any assistance in cash or kind will go a long way in helping this young lady regain her precious life.
