My  75 year old dad, Alexander Bamfo Mireku, was shot in his car while driving Uber late Sunday night.  Police suspect his attackers murdered another man at a nearby gas station a few hours later (https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/crime/uber-driver-shot-police-suspect-same-men-murdered-23-year-old-at-gas-station/65-be2bdca4-9396-4333-8519-e90e42965e62).


In addition to Dad's two gunshot wounds, the bullets shattered his driver's and passenger's side windows and damaged his driver side front door.   He is not able to drive his car for work.  My dad spent most of  his adult life as a D.C. cab driver and has turned to Uber in recent years when my mom's health declined, making her unable to work or drive.   


My family is grateful Dad survived to continue to be a husband, father, grandfather and friend, but the attackers took away his livelihood.  We are reaching out for assistance to help cover basic needs and  expenses while my dad is recovering.
