This is my last attempt effort in being able to raise funds for a surgery that i must have. I have never asked for help for myself ever. I’m absolutely desperate at this point. I had a mini gastric bypass done in may of 2021. Ever since i have suffered from severe gerd and other stomach issues. I no longer have insurance that will cover this. I’ve been paying for all my specialists. Tests. Medications and hospital stays out of pocket. My surgery is being quoted at 20k to fix everything and follow up visits.
Ive been to two gi specialist who referred me back to my original surgeon.
april 2, i woke up in extreme pain, was taken to the hospital where i was diagnosed with pancreatitis, stomach infection and dehydration. I was admitted into the hospital for 9 days. I returned back to Florida and was readmitted into the hospital for another 7 days. there i was diagnosed with pancreatitis, severe gerd, kidney stones, hypoklamia, anemic. Gastritis, edema, high blood pressure, h-pylori and 3 infections. I was given 15 bags of potassium which then caused all the veins in my arms to blow and now have scar tissue. I have to get my Ivs put in via ultrasound now as all the ones on my arms are shot and have sever scar tissue.
my doctors told me they 100 percent believed it was from taking the ozempic shot and i needed to see a gi specialist. I had an upper gi and colonoscopy performed and they found a large ulcer on my incision site from my may 2021 surgery and removed several polyps for biopsy which all came back benign. Approximately 2 weeks later i was hospitalized again and they had found a hiatal hernia along with the above still.
I’ve been hospitalized 8 times since April 2. I can count on one hand how many days that I’ve not been in extreme pain, fatigued, nauseated, vomiting or able to keep food down. I’ve went from 156 to 122 pounds since april to now. I just want to feel normal again. My whole body just feels worn down and ready to throw in the towel.
My doctor said my body is malnourished and lacking the nutrients it needs to do surgery to fix it and more than likely wouldn’t pull through due to the state my body is in. I’ve been put on 17 different medications. I’ve been unable to just sit down and eat an actual meal or even keep a few bites down since April without getting extremely sick. Let’s talk about being able to keep meds down when they say it needs to be taken with food. I just feel defeated.
on my next to last hospitalization stay, i had more CT’s. MRI. Endoscopy and ultra sounds done where they told me i also was diagnosed with severe fatty liver syndrome, damage to my pancreas, along with pancreatis and a cyst on my pancreas to go along with malnutrition. I was referred to a bariatric doctor there who states this is due to the ulcer that perforated my incision site causing me to now have extreme bile reflux which is what is causing me to be so sick and effecting my pancreas and liver and will start eventually affecting my esophagus and stomach lining.
i met with a bariatric Dr in Florida who stated i needed to have surgery as soon as my levels could get into a healthy range to do the surgery.
It’s not a i have a choice but a necessary must have to reroute my tubes that carry the bile from my stomach. Revise my original surgery and fix my hernia as it’s deteriorating my body.
Both of my bariatric doctors stated i need to have a revision on my surgery, from may 2021. to fix the bile reflux. Hernia and other issues in my stomach. My blood tests are extremely low on vitamins and nutrients and my body is malnourished. I’ve been put on 2 more medications and a very strict diet to hopefully help with this. one of the medications alone with good rx is $706.34 per month which i cant even afford to get. My next step would be putting in a feeding tube through my nose to get the nutrients and vitamins needed to be able to have the surgery done if the current regimen doesn't work.
i live on a very limited income and can’t afford to pay for private insurance and it’s a pre existing condition which wouldn’t be covered. I can barely afford my medications a month. My parents have helped me as much as they can. I’ve sold anything of value that i own to help cover costs of Dr visits and medications.
i have surgery scheduled tentatively for August 20th and pre op to check my levels on August 16 to see if I’m fit for surgery and my body can handle it. This last Thursday my surgeon told me he wouldn’t take the risk nor the liability to perform it right now as my body wouldn’t heal bc it’s an invasive surgery and my organs are extremely swollen. We’re hoping on August 16 i will be cleared for surgery. I’ve applied for financial aid through the hospital to hopefully cover some of the costs, but have yet to hear back. I’ve exhausted all my savings and money into my monthly medications, Dr visits, tests and hospitalizations.
it makes me so embarrassed to ask for help but at this point. I have no other options. I just want to be able to live a normal life again without the pain, nausea, bile reflux, severe heartburn and not being able to function daily. If not fixed, this could eventually kill me according to my doctor.
I’m so tired and have zero energy anymore. I’ve sold personal belongings to help pay for things and have nothing of value left to help me cover these costs.
my surgeon is 4 hours away one way and i have two more trips to make before August 20th. If you could just spread the word, send prayers or can help me with the costs in any way i would forever be grateful. Any and all funds would be used strictly for medications. Surgery and gas to get back and forth to my Dr appointments. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
