Seeking help for accessibility renovations.

Hello, my name is Kevin Jones. I am a struggling single father raising two amazing boys aged 13 and 15. My youngest son, Spencer, was born a micro-preemie at just 25 weeks, weighing only 1.5 pounds. He spent 115 days in the NICU before coming home, and was later diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

Today, Spencer is 13 years old. He's funny, clever, adventurous, huge imagination, and has an insatiable thirst for knowledge. He loves fast rides at the fair, swimming (playing in the water), camping, and anything that lets him feel the wind in his hair. By all accounts he is just like any other boy his age, except he cannot walk. Spencer has very little use of his legs, relies on a wheelchair, he is quite independant in many ways, but still needs hands on help with many daily activities,

As his dad, I have carried him everywhere he needs to go - up and down the stairs, into the car, into the bathroom and to bed. But Spencer now weighs 130 pounds, and I am at the limit of what I can physically manage on my own. Every day it's becoming harder, and it breaks my heart to know I may not be able to give him the independance and care he needs and deserves without help.

To stay active Spencers life and create a safe and accessible home for him, we urgently need:

1. A wheelchair lift for the front porch - $4,000 - $8,000. Done!!

Here is a video of Spencer using the lift for the first time. It's a little awkward, but in just a couple of days he had it mastered.

2. Enlarging and making the bathroom accessible - $20,000 - $30,000.

3. A wheelchair accessible van - from $60,000.

4. Future after school care solution - to help bridge the gap when Spencer ages out of daycare in the spring of 2026.

Thankfully, a kind neighbour who is a contractor has generously offered to do the renovations at cost this winter. This is an incredible opportunity - but I need help raising the funds make it possible.

This GoFundMe is one of the hardest and most humbling things I've ever done. I have always tried to do everything myself, but I can't do this alone anymore. Any contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward making our home more accessible for Spencer. If you can't give, sharing this fundraiser or pointing us toward resources , grants, or services would also mean the world.

Thank you for reading our story and for supporting us in any way you can. From the bottom of my heart I am grateful.

With love,
Kevin Jones
