Hello, comrades. The time has come for me to seek greener health care and work pastures.
I have struggled for 18 years in the Rogue Valley to access adequate health care for my chronic illness(es).
Symptoms of endometriosis, Grave's disease, and chronic migraines have been debilitating and profoundly exhausting. Over time, I've grieved the loss of life, confidence, and meaning- fulfilling activities as my illnesses have worsened. Depression has filled that void, but had improved since I became sober over 5 years ago.
Because of my chronic illness struggles and several economic/environmental disasters (covid, the 2020 Almeda fire, smoky summer after smoky summer, etc.) many of my pet services clients have relocated out of the valley. I'm barely scraping by each month to cover my rent.
I'm moving to Eugene. I've signed a rental contract (I know somebody in property management) and given notice at my current Ashland apartment. My move out date is May 1st.
Eugene is 4 times the size of Ashland and has many more doctors to choose from. It doesn't have the same problems that the Rogue Valley has with healthcare, like the difficulty in hiring medical staff. The proximity to Portland and OHSU, specialists, and supportive family is also something I do not have right now.
Job wise, I have many contacts for pet services in Portland and Eugene. I'm excited about the possibilities for improved health, morale, and work life.
In order to make this move, I need some help with funding not only for the physical move itself (which will require many hands) but with rent and bills while I am building my regular contacts. I'm also considering the possibility of my SNAP and OHP being cut in the near future. I am also enrolled in cell phone and internet discounts that are dependent on my enrollment in SNAP and OHP.
This will also be a time of establishing care with several different specialists/ a primary care doctor, so I will be at Dr. appointments often.
If you are able to assist, I deeply appreciate it. This move will support my health and wellbeing and I thank you for seeing me and considering my support.
