Seeking Funds to Save Louie

Hello.  Some of you know or have heard that our beloved Louie, our 8 year old rescue dog from Mexico, has come down with a mystery illness. We've been to 2 different vets, a neurologist and a holistic vet, and have spent thousands of dollars trying to figure out the problem. We think there could be a tick-borne disease or something like Lyme disease.

His illness started with seizures back in October 2021. He recovered and was fine until December 2021 when he had another seizure. Then he slowly lost control over his back legs, lost his appetite, lost muscle mass, lost weight and showed neurological decline. Louie can barely walk now. Despite my every effort to treat this illness, our sweet guy has gone from a 30 pound healthy dog to skin and bones at 18 pounds. I just keep staring at him trying to understand what the hell is happening.

However, he is still his deeply soulful self and is not ready to go yet. He is curious about where our family is going, wants to be involved and still tries to be with us. We are now breaking down and seeking support from those who have known Louie or know us and are in a position to help out. Our plan now is to get extensive testing from an Internist (Internal Medicine) at Canada West Veterinary Medicine.  I talked with the specialist at Canada West today for an hour and we have decided on how to proceed with testing to try to get to the bottom of this and try to save his life.

You'll see from the photos and videos the severe decline. Some are videos of Louie now, some are of him when he was a bright healthy Louie with his tail high up in the air.

 

Putting together this Go Fund Me Campaign is utterly heartbreaking as Vin and I go through old videos and photos seeing a healthy, bounding Louie compared to where he is now.   We can't believe this is happening.
