Seeking amazing humans for the Amazin Sis

UPDATE:  SIS began her radiation therapy yesterday, and all went well.  Her next round will be tomorrow and she is expected to have 2 treatments next week and if all goes well home next Saturday!  We are 25% to our goal!!  You all are amazing, please keep sharing,  TOGETHER WE CAN DO THIS!  

The Amazin Sis, owned and loved by the Amazin Sonny Garguilo, is headed to Ohio to start radiation therapy for her mast cell tumor on her left rear ankle and on her muzzle. This specific mast cell is a very rare cancer for horses, but it is usually Arabians like Sis that are affected when it does occur.

 

This is Sis' second bout with this cancer, her first was 4 years ago, and radiation therapy successfully treated her cancer and kept it at bay until now.

 

Sis is now on her way to Ohio State University, one of only 3 hospitals in the United States that can perform this type of radiation in horses. Surgery is not an option as the tumor is yet again wrapped around her joint. Sis has a rough road ahead of her for the next few weeks, but if any horse is up to the challenge, it is this spicy red-headed Arabian.

 

I feel the need to tell you that Sonny did not ask, nor would have ever asked, that this Go Fund Me be created. In fact, he said to me that the world was too tough on people right now, and he didn't feel right asking for help from people since Sis was his responsibility. That's just the kind of guy he is. I decided to create this anyway, as I can only imagine how hard this is to handle alone. The world is tough right now, but without people like Sonny, it would be a whole lot harder on the 1000's of horses he has helped by helping not only the horses themselves, but the humans involved in their care.

 

He has personally helped me in more ways that I would ever admit publicly, most notably with my own red head Autumn, our rescue horses, and most recently by starting my new horse, Dragon, under saddle and creating an amazing foundation on him.

 

As a cancer survivor himself, and one who undergoes chemotherapy on a regular basis, I know we can work together and help take the financial worry from Sonny that he must be feeling. Regardless, I know he would make it happen for Sis, but please help me show Sonny some of the love and support he has given to so many, both hooved and human, over the years.
