Seek Up With Rick Greene
On December 29th, 2020, Rick suffered a stroke. On December 28th, Rick lost vision in his right eye—this was the initial symptom. He was seen at
the Rumford Hospital Emergency Department where it was determined that his carotid artery had bifurcated and sent a small clot which hit his optic nerve resulting in the vision loss. He was closely monitored at Rumford Hospital while they tried to find him a bed at a hospital with a stroke center.
Unfortunately, due to COVID, hospital capacities were at an all time high and no one could take Rick that night. The following morning, a larger clot
let go and Rick suffered a major stroke. He was transported via life flight to Maine Med where they performed surgery. The surgery was risky, but
ultimately paid off...they were able to repair his carotid artery and remove the clot from his MCA.
Rick has lost some mobility on his left side and has had some vision loss. He is working hard every day with his physical, speech and occupational
therapists and is VERY determined to get better.
The funds raised will go to help defray their share of the medical costs, to make necessary home improvements for accessibility and for ongoing
treatments that may not be covered by his insurance.
We know that Rick and his family would never ask for help, or this GoFundMe page, however so many people wanted to help so we figured this would be an easy, impactful way to do so.
Your support is greatly appreciated!!!
