Hello, we are the Reed Family! Myself, Jessica, and my husband, Clint, are fundraising for medical assistance as our family prepares for our two year-old daughter, Lucy, to undergo open heart surgery.
During a recent wellness checkup, we discovered our daughter has a congenital heart defect called Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD). A ventricular septal defect is a hole in the wall that separates the lower chambers, right and left ventricle, of your heart. When this hole is large enough, the amount of blood leaking between the chambers can cause permanent damage to your heart and lungs and increase the risk of heart infections/failure. Most VSDs don’t cause symptoms and close on their own by age 6. However, for Lucy, we have discovered the only solution to close her 1cm hole is open heart surgery.
If you know of Lucy, you know she brightens up any room! With all of Lucy’s energy, this diagnosis came as a complete shock. She is always on the move with Dance, Swim, Gymnastics and just being a happy toddler.
We are asking for help to ease the financial stress that will come along with such a big surgery as Lucy’s. We appreciate anyone who has taken the time to read this, donate, and send some light as we focus on giving Lucy a healthy and long future!
