Nei contesti in cui lavoriamo, ogni anno senza un insegnante formato è un anno in cui centinaia di ragazze e ragazzi perdono l’occasione di acquisire competenze che potrebbero cambiare la loro vita e quella della loro comunità. L’urgenza è reale: dare un’educazione di qualità adesso significa costruire possibilità che non possono essere rimandate.
Ed è proprio in questo contesto che emergono storie straordinarie di impegno e creatività. Come quella di Moses Msofe, insegnante a Lukwambe, in Tanzania, che trasforma la pausa pranzo in un laboratorio a cielo aperto: con la sua classe, pianta alberi, ripulisce il villaggio dalla plastica e costruisce strumenti scientifici con materiali semplici. Per Moses, la scienza è concreta, accessibile e viva.
Moses non ha molti strumenti, ma possiede qualcosa di ancora più potente: la formazione ricevuta da SeedScience e la convinzione che un’educazione di qualità sia il primo passo per proteggere il futuro delle nuove generazioni.
In molte scuole dell’Africa subsahariana le classi superano i 45–100 studenti, mancano elettricità stabile, acqua corrente e connessione internet, e la didattica è spesso costretta a basarsi sulla memorizzazione, più che sulla comprensione o lo sviluppo di competenze. Le risorse scarseggiano, le opportunità di aggiornamento per gli insegnanti sono limitate e le disparità di genere continuano a frenare l’accesso di molte ragazze alle materie scientifiche.
Centinaia di insegnanti SeedScience stanno aprendo nuove possibilità ai loro studenti. Alcuni sono diventati formatori e oggi portano ciò che hanno imparato in nuove scuole e villaggi. In molti luoghi dove abbiamo iniziato con un solo insegnante, il seme è diventato una piccola foresta: comunità di docenti che si sostengono a vicenda, creano esperienze di apprendimento di qualità e coinvolgono famiglie e quartieri in percorsi di crescita sostenibile.
Dalla Tanzania al Ghana, dall’Uganda al Madagascar e, in modo diverso, all’Italia, insegnanti formati da SeedScience trasformano materiali semplici in strumenti che rendono la scienza vicina, concreta e inclusiva. Anche in scuole con risorse limitate, riescono a coltivare creatività, pensiero critico e collaborazione, trasformando le lezioni da teoria ad esperienza quotidiana per migliaia di studentesse e studenti.
E quando la scienza mette radici in questo modo, cresce qualcosa che va oltre la scuola: famiglie più coinvolte, comunità più consapevoli e un futuro che inizia davvero a prendere forma.

In the contexts where we work, every year without a trained teacher is a year in which hundreds of girls and boys miss out on the opportunity to acquire skills that could transform their lives and those of their communities. The urgency is real: providing quality education now means building opportunities that cannot be postponed.
It is precisely in this context that extraordinary stories of commitment and creativity emerge. Like that of Moses Msofe, a teacher in Lukwambe, Tanzania, who turns his lunch break into an open-air workshop: he plants trees, cleans up plastic from the village, and builds scientific instruments with simple materials. In many schools in sub-Saharan Africa, classes exceed 45–100 students, there is no stable electricity, running water, or internet connection, and teaching often relies on memorization rather than understanding or skill development. Resources are scarce, opportunities for teacher training are limited, and gender disparities continue to hinder many girls' access to science subjects.
Hundreds of SeedScience teachers are opening up new possibilities for their students. Some have become trainers and now bring what they have learned to new schools and villages. In many places where we started with just one teacher, the seed has grown into a small forest: communities of teachers who support each other, create quality learning experiences, and involve families and neighborhoods in sustainable growth paths.
From Tanzania to Ghana, Uganda to Madagascar and, in a different way, Italy, teachers trained by SeedScience transform simple materials into tools that make science accessible, concrete, and inclusive. Even in schools with limited resources, they manage to cultivate creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration, transforming lessons from theory into everyday experience for thousands of students.
And when science takes root in this way, something grows that goes beyond school: more involved families, more aware communities, and a future that really begins to take shape.
