Security System for Temple Emanuel

Donation protected

Temple Emanuel is a small synagogue serving the southern Colorado Jewish population. The building was constructed in 1900 and is the oldest synagogue in Colorado that is still in use. Our building is on the National Historic Register.

Last week, the FBI arrested a former KKK member who had plans to destroy our beautiful, historic synagogue. The news has reported that he planned to detonate dynamite and Molotov cocktails on Friday, November 1. He also claimed he had a plan to add arsenic to the pipes, to poison the children who drink from our water fountains.

While we are so thankful that he was apprehended before he could enact his plan, we nevertheless believe that our community needs to take immediate action to prevent any other such atrocities. To that end, we are asking for funds to upgrade our security system, including adding additional security cameras around the perimeter and improving our video storage capabilities. We would like to expand the hours of our security detail as well. In the event we have any additional funds which are not required for security improvements, they will be used for structural improvements and repairs.
