After 7 years of renting the same home, my landlord decided to sell the property. Thankfully, the new owner has been patient; however, the house has never been insured or legally registered. We’ve been going through this eviction since August (thankfully he’s been patient and understanding), and despite the inhabitable living conditions, he still insists on us leaving. With no family support and few options, we’re being forced out.
Our situation worsened when my then-husband lost his job last October. He had to step away when our youngest daughter was hospitalized, and since then, he’s had no luck finding new work. He applies constantly, but most jobs are too far, or he’s simply denied. It’s been a humbling and painful season for him. All that eventually led to us getting divorced.
I’m working part-time, making it nearly impossible to find new and affordable housing. We’ve reached out to welfare and some local programs—no one has been able to help. We are doing everything we can to keep our family together and provide for our kids, but we’re running out of options.
While we’d gratefully accept help with a deposit for an apartment, our real hope is to raise enough for a modest house. Owning a home would mean stability, security for my children, and of course, the chance to stop living stress and worry-free. Most importantly, it would be something we could build, improve, and leave to my children one day when I am no longer here. That legacy means everything to me.
I’m asking for help—not out of want, but as a now single and struggling mother, I am in desperate need.
