Secure Water for Brighter Tomorrows Today Students

Give Clean Water, Give Hope: Support Brighter Tomorrows STEM School in Nkenkaasu, Ghana!

We, the students and faculty of Northern Parkway Elementary School in Uniondale, NY, are reaching out to you today with an exciting and impactful project. We are having walkathon fundraiser starting May 2nd, 2025 - June 16th, 2025 to help the children at the Brighter Tomorrows Today STEM school in Nkenkaasu, Ghana, have access to a reliable source of clean water.

We have set a goal to raise $3,500 to fund the construction of a new, reliable electric borehole at the Brighter Tomorrows Today STEM school. A water borehole is a deep, cylindrical hole drilled into the ground to access underground water sources, typically aquifers, for water supply.

This new borehole will provide a sustainable and consistent source of clean water for the entire school community, ensuring that students can:

• Stay hydrated and healthy, reducing waterborne illnesses.

• Focus on their education without the worry of water scarcity.

• Have more time for learning and play, instead of spending hours fetching water.

Brighter Tomorrows Today is a school where the simple necessity of water is a constant struggle. The Brighter Tomorrows Today STEM school currently relies on a government-owned borehole which supplies water to the school but unfortunately suffers from frequent breakdowns. These disruptions can last for hours, days, or even weeks, leaving the students without access to drinking water and the school paying for water service even if it is not working. When this happens, the school must rely on donations to purchase bagged or bottled water, a costly and unsustainable solution.

For many of the students at Brighter Tomorrows Today, the situation at school mirrors their daily lives. They often lack access to clean drinking water at home and must undertake long and arduous journeys to collect water from potentially contaminated streams. This not only impacts their health but also takes away valuable time from their studies.
