My name is Vae. I am a 24 y/o early childhood education leader in pursuit of providing quality care to my community.

In early 2024, I got diagnosed with a progressive eye condition called keratoconus in both of my eyes. Keratoconus is a non-inflammatory eye disorder where the cornea thins and bulges into a cone shape, causing significant blurred or distorted vision. In serve cases, this condition can lead to permanent scarring of the cornea that may lead to a cornea transplant.

As of now, there is no treatment to reverse this condition but there is a treatment to hault the progression of the keratoconus called corneal cross linking. Cross linking can only be completed one eye at a time. With this procedure, I will be out of work for at least 1 1/2 months.
