My name is Elisenda (they/them) and I am a full time disabled latinx lesbian freelance artist living on Kumeyaay Land (san diego, ca) who suffers from extreme joint and body pain. Due to the pandemic and the lack of care for disabled folks, I have had limited options for full time work outside of my art business meaning for the last two and half years I’ve only been supporting myself financially via my artwork.

Because of this I haven’t been able to save enough money to be in a secure spot to either buy my car at its lease end or to finance it. Due to student loan debt, I cannot apply for a loan and my parents do not have the generational wealth necessary to help me qualify for a loan. My lease ends on Sept. 15 and I do not have the funds or ability to get the full buy out cost ($12,075 + tune up/detailing before inspection at the dealership) in time. I am desperately asking you to please help if you can and share this widely. I live gig to gig, I have little to no resources to fall back on if I cannot purchase my car and I am very overwhelmed by that possibility. This is the only means of transportation I have for my business and my personal life, without it I don’t know what I’ll do because I cannot afford to get any other car and public transportation is unsafe and inaccessible to me due to my disabilities.
