On Tuesday, my husband Karim was unexpectedly detained by ICE during a routine check-in. For over four years, we’ve been waiting patiently for his immigrant petition to be approved. He has always followed every rule — no criminal record, every check-in attended — all while studying and working hard toward becoming a permanent resident. Karim is just one semester away from graduating, a milestone he’s poured his heart into despite so many challenges.

In Arabic, Karim means generous, and if you know him, you know how perfectly that fits. He gives endlessly — his time, patience, kindness, and love. He’s the kind of person who lifts everyone around him with his warmth and positivity.
