Joann Freeman (Jojo) is my best friend who was diagnosed with bladder cancer in February 2023. She had her bladder removed in April of that year. Joann got a severe infection from the bladder surgery and spent 14 days in the hospital and 3 and a half months on intravenous antibiotics at home. We had hoped this would be the end of her recovery, especially with a cancer-free diagnosis, but unfortunately, on January 17, 2025, she was told that the cancer had come back and it had spread to her liver and abdominal wall. It has since wrapped itself around her colon, and due to the location of the tumor and the fact that she has osteomyelitis, it is inoperable, leaving her with a slim chance of survival.

Joann was not prepared for this devastating news, and she doesn't have any life insurance, so the thought of leaving all her loved ones with the high cost of her final expenses is weighing heavy on my friend. My hopes with this fundraiser is to raise enough money so she can arrange her own final expenses, all in hopes it will help her rest easy knowing that her loved ones won't have to deal with the toll of the expense after she is gone.
